The benefits of acid stain concrete floors are numerous. We’ll take a look at just a few of them.

· Appearance and Beauty – From retail stores to residences, to restaurants and commercial office buildings the beauty of these floors is unmistakable. Once a person sees this flooring option they can’t help but at least consider it for their project. This is probably one of the greatest benefits of acid stain concrete floors.

· Durability – As most everyone knows concrete is one of the most durable products manufactured in the world. Concrete buildings and structures last at times for decades and sometimes for hundreds of years. Your own concrete floors will also do the same, with a small amount of maintenance your acid stained concrete floors will last for many years. Usually longer than most all other options.

· Low Maintenance – These incredible floors only require dust mopping and an occasionally damp mop. How much foot traffic you have will determine the frequency of waxing. In commercial settings possibly 3-4 times a year and normally in a residence, 1-2 times a year.

· Cleanliness – The ease of cleaning and lack of allergens such as dust mites and animal dander make this a great alternative to carpeting.

· Cost Effective – Acid stained floors are usually competitive with tile, wood floors and all but the cheapest carpeting. Even the most complex designs are competitive and often cheaper than slate, marble and terrazzo. As a matter of fact with the newest self-leveling overlays you can add sea-glass, mother of pearl and other such aggregates, grind, polish and stain the floor and have an absolutely incredibly beautiful floor for half the price of elaborate terrazzo.

· Radiant Heat – Concrete is an excellent radiator of heat from radiant heat floor systems. Most polymer overlays work extremely well with this heating system also. Just as the use of polymer overlays “cools” the surface of pool decks, it also helps cut down on fluctuations in surface temperature. This allows the overlay to remain warmer than tile.

· Passive Solar Design – Architects have found that concrete absorbs heat during the day and then releases this stored heat at night. This makes concrete the ideal ingredient to be used for construction of this home and building design.
